Thanks Joe for all your help. Having you to consult with makes me think of how those who go to shrinks feel comforted in knowing that if the going gets rough they can always call their 'therapist'.

It’s in Apple’s DNA that technology alone is not enough. That it’s technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields us the result that makes our hearts sing.

PsiMac Holiday Card 2012

Thanks to friend of PsiMac, Chad Anderson, for indulging our holiday cheer this year. Chad was professional and easy to work with, and accommodated our busy schedule. You can see more of his work on the Chad Anderson Photography online portfolio.

We had fun shooting the holiday card photo.  See if you can spot the "creature" that's stirring in the uncropped image below:

"It's not rocket science..."

"...It's the furthest frontier of particle physics!"  So reads an email I received from Brad L., friend of PsiMac. He was referring to a screenshot he captured of a meeting at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research:

The smartest minds in science sure seem to favor the Mac – look at all those Apple logos!

The scientific achievments of CERN are numerous.  Most of the recent press about CERN focuses on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which according to Wikipedia "is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator" and "one of the largest and most complex experimental facilities ever built." In November 2012, the LHC may have discovered a particle known as a Higgs boson, sometimes called the "God particle."

But CERN's influence in technology extends beyond particle physics.  In fact, the World Wide Web was invented in 1989 as a project at CERN by Tim Berners-Lee. The first web server was a NeXT Computer – the computer made by the company founded by Steve Jobs when he left Apple in 1985.  Apple acquired NeXT in 1996 which brought Steve Jobs back to the company, along with the software developed by NeXT, which became the foundation of the modern Mac OS X.

Our Ben Larrabee Photo Shoot

After nine years consulting with our clients and friends, Ben and Trudie Larrabee, Joe and Ashleigh had the great pleasure of our very own Ben Larrabee Photography photo shoot.

It was an honor to be photographed by such an extraordinary artist, and to be with Ben and Trudie as their subjects and clients. We are so happy with the results, and we are excited to share one of the photos with you:

iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 is unbelievably lighter, thinner, faster, and it has a taller screen.

Lighter, thinner, faster— it's almost a cliché, but it really is a noticeable improvement.

Lightning

iPhone 5 uses a new Lightning connector. Since the connector is different from the old 30-pin connector used on all previous iPhones, iPads, and iPods for almost ten years, you will need new charging cables and/or adapters to charge the new iPhone everywhere you wish to have a charger.  (It comes with one Lightning to USB cable, but you may want extra. It comes with one USB Power Adapter, and is compatible with any standard 5W USB power port.)

Protection

I have never used a case with any of my iPhones, going all the way back to the original iPhone on June 29, 2007 (date recalled from memory). Although my practice of technology consulting requires that I treat mobile devices (and all technology) with care, I have seen many broken iPhones over the years, usually with a cracked screen after having been dropped one too many times.

And I still don't recommend a case.

Why not?
